DELF A1 : What you should know?
At the A1 level, having a foundational understanding of French language is crucial. It is required of you to speak in an easy-to-understand manner.
DELF A1: Grammar
You don’t have to study grammar in-depth, but you should be familiar with enough of the rules to be able to read and write simple phrases.
- Parts of speech (especially nouns, pronouns, verbs, and adjectives)
- Essential verbs (être, avoir, aller, faire)
- Conjugations of present tense
DELF A1: Reading
The majority of the DELF A1 course materials concentrate on extracting essential details from brief messages, including the date, time, place, cost, phone number, etc. The following are a few formats:
- Invitation card
- Schedule
- Price table
- Short classified ads
DELF A1: Listening
You will hear French spoken naturally during the exam. Even if the subject is straightforward, they won’t slow down for you. Among the most common elements on the exam are ordinal numbers, times, dates, days, months, and years. Your ears should be trained for:
- Liaison (nous avons = nous ZA-vons)
- Numbers (21 = vingt-et-un, but 22 = vingt-deux, without et)
- Times (it’s 6 am. = il est six heures)
DELF A1: Speaking
At the minimum, you should be able to introduce yourself. You can earn extra points if you go off script or provide an impromptu response to an examiner. Strategy-wise, you can score substantial points on the self-introduction part if you prepare well on:
- Name
- Age (choose the correct auxiliary verbj’ai 25 ans, over je suis 25 ans)
- Nationality
- Occupation
- Where you live
- Your family
- Your hobbies
DELF A1: Writing
There are 2 parts: filling out a form and writing a short message (40-50 words). For the short message, you are expected to write in the following formats:
- Postcard
- Invitation
