Table of Contents

There are some people who were able to master Japanese on their own outside of formal education settings.

Learning Japanese on your own is now simpler than ever thanks to the abundance of resources that can be found on the internet today.

Consider me as an example: I began at square one and worked my way up to an advanced level by following a practical study plan, enrolling in online courses, keeping a notebook, and putting in a lot of effort.

In this section, I will share how you can learn Japanese on your own. Learning how to educate oneself is a skill that can be quickly acquired.

    NOTHING AT ALL IN JAPANESE

To the study of Japanese, good luck! If you’re a complete newbie, start here. You have a rudimentary grasp of the Japanese language at best. Perhaps a “baka” here and a “konnichiwa” there. These preliminary actions are crucial because they establish a basis upon which further progress can be made.

Everything that comes after taking deliberate action will be easier.

If you want to avoid the thing that stops most students in their tracks—the intermediate wall—you’ll need to carefully complete this section. Instead, you should take your time with these preliminary procedures. What seems slow right now will feel lightning fast in the future.
