How to study for long hours?

When it comes to studying for long hours, these tips can be very helpful!

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Studying, especially during exams, can be challenging. And if you get distracted easy, it can be quite a task! Motivation plays a vital role in achieving your goals, and every step towards success requires inspiration, strength, energy, and a lot more than just a to-do list. Slowly training your mind and forming a habit of studying for long hours with a focus can go a long way for you.

Table of Contents

    Prioritise what to study

To begin, ensure you set your priorities straight. Focus on studying the most important topics first and gradually proceed to others. It’s beneficial to approach your studies with a fresh and alert mind, as the knowledge you acquire will have a lasting impact.

    Sleep well

Having 7-8 hours of sleep is not a myth! You need a sufficient amount of rest, so you do not feel lethargic while studying. Sacrificing sleep to perform better and study more will only affect your health and lead to stress and anxiety. Also, your grasping power weakens when you are sleepy. In fact, you can always take a small nap in between to refresh your mind and body.

    Eat right

Studying for exams is when you need to be active, so eating a balanced diet is advisable. Heavy, oily food tends to make you lethargic. So, avoid it during your peak study hours. Fresh, home-cooked meals, especially superfoods like berries, fish, nuts, whole grains, yogurts, legumes, tomatoes, etc., are known to increase productivity and sharpness of mind.

    Exercise every day

It is a good idea to exercise for 15-30 minutes regularly. It opens up your nerves, removes stiffness, and makes you feel energetic all day. Experts believe exercise releases neurotransmitters in the brain, which keeps it awake and alert. Physical activity signals the brain to be alert and also makes you feel fresher.

    Make your room study friendly

When we say study-friendly, it means a well-lit room with fewer distractions. Lack of light makes you dull and sleepy, while studying in a well-lit room makes you feel lively and energetic. You can also place motivating posters, quotes, and other positive objects on your study table to keep you pepped. Do take care that your room doesn’t have too many distractions.

    Take breaks

Even a 10-minute break goes a long way. It is essential to take breaks for the productivity of your mind. Studying at a stretch can make you forgetful, making your mind feel cluttered with a lot of information to process. Take a break to energise and start over for better results.
