CONJUGATION RULE:
(朼)べ 수 있다/없다 Verbs are employed in grammar. The initial step in conjugating ‘(으)ㄹ 수 있다/없다’ is to extract ‘다’ from the verb’s base form.
We use v+을 수 있다/없다 if the verb stem ends with 받침, the last consonant.
“v+ㄹ 수 있다/없다” is used if the verb stem ends in any vowel (without patchim).
Now let’s consider the verb {다 (to eat). When 다 is taken out of 다, 먹 (stem) remains. Next, observe the stem. Therefore, the final consonant in the {{} is Patchim.
The conjugation rule states that we add 을 수 있다/없다 if the stem ends in Patchim.
Thus, “I can eat” would be 쨹을 수 있어요.
You may say “I can’t eat” instead with 쨹을 수 없어요.
